Different flour starter and bread



Brand new to the bread game here and have a question : When making sourdough bread, does the flour used for the starter have to match the flour of the bread ?

So i used rye flour for my starter, will it work with any type of flour or just with rye flour ?

I'm not an expert actually new to baking bread myself. But I've been using a rye starter and it seems quite robust in any of the flours I've been expierimenting with. Of course I think it has a different flavor profile than a white flour starter
