Extra Sour Starter

I started my starter from scratch about 10 days back. I was feeding it wholemeal wheat flour. Within about 6 days, it was looking happy, it would rise and double after feeding (I was feeding it every 24 hours). But on day 7, I tasted the starter and it was terrible. It was very acidic and just a hint of sourness was just in the background. I thought maybe I was under feeding it so I started feeding it every 12 hours. 3 days later I don't see much change in the taste. The starter itself is rising well after feeding. I worry how a bread baked with this starter may taste. Any pointers?
